Fall Band Concert Reminder

The Walled Lake Western Fall Band Concert is TOMORROW, Wednesday, October 24th at 7:00pm. The concert will begin promptly at 7:00pm.  Students should arrive in uniform no later than 6:30pm.  The concert will conclude at approximately 8:30pm, and students are required to stay for the duration of the concert.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10 at ROYAL OAK HIGH SCHOOL

  • 4:45 p.m. Arrive at WLW to change and pack
  • 5:15 p.m. Load bus & Equipment Truck
  • 5:45 p.m. Depart for Royal Oak High School via school bus
    • 1500 Lexington Blvd., Royal Oak, Michigan 48073
  • 6:45 p.m. Arrive and unload equipment
  • 7:15 p.m. Move to warm-up area
  • 7:25 p.m. Warm-Up in Area
  • 7:55 p.m. Report to staging area
  • 8:00 p.m. PERFORMANCE
  • 8:15 p.m. Pictures

8:30 p.m. Report to homeroom, collect belongings, load bus.
8:45 p.m. Depart for WLW
9:45 p.m. Approximate arrival time

NOTICE: In preparation for Festival, we have rehearsal Monday, October 8 AND Tuesday, October 9

Remember all parts of the uniform: BLACK socks, BLACK marching shoes, BLACK Band shirt, NO jewelry.
• As you see other bands in and around the school, be courteous and friendly.
• I STRONGLY SUGGEST you pack some snacks to take with you on the bus.
• Concessions will be available for sale to spectators.

Spartan Spectacular 2012

What: Spartan Spectacular Concert featuring Michigan State University’s top performing bands and faculty featuring the Spartan Marching Band.

When: Saturday, October 27, 2012
             6:30pm departure from Western HS
             8:00pm Concert at MSU
            11:00pm return to Western HS

Where: Wharton Center for the Performing Arts
             Michigan State University
             East Lansing, MI

Cost:  $24 per person.  This covers the $8.00 group rate ticket, $3 restoration fee assessed by Wharton Center, and $13.00 per person for the bus transportation.

Why:  This is an excellent opportunity to see one of the country’s finest university bands in a collage style performance.  It will be a solid, one hour and 45 minutes of exceptional music.  The show is always memorable.  One might even call it…spectacular (I know, I know). 

Details:  In an effort to keep the cost of this trip reasonable, I am reserving only ONE, 56 passenger bus.  If you would like to attend this concert, please return the FIELD TRIP CONSENT FORM and your payment in an envelope to Mr. Dudzinski by Tuesday, October 4, 2012.  I will accept students and chaperones on a first come, first served basis.  This trip is open to younger siblings as well!

If you would like to chaperone this trip, please include your payment with your son or daughter’s payment.

Please make checks payable to WLWBB and write your student’s name and “MSU” in the memo line.

Concert Uniform Fittings

From Mr. D.:

Concert uniform fittings will take place at the band room between the hours of 5pm and 9pm on the following days: Thursday, September 27 Monday, October 1 Tuesday, October 2 Wednesday, October 3 Please make every effort to attend one of these fitting days. In most cases, it only take approximately ten minutes, but plan on approximately 30 minutes if there is a wait. This assures students will look their very best at the concerts! If you are the parent of a returning male student, please make sure they try on their tux shirt from last year to make sure it still fits. Thank you, Patrick Dudzinski Band Director

Percussion and Tubas should load the equipment trailer on FRIDAY after school.

Everyone should take their uniform home WEDNESDAY after rehearsal or FRIDAY after school.

Everyone should take their instruments home after school on FRIDAY or after pep band.

5:00pm ARRIVE at Walled Lake Central HS. Meet in coat room.
6:00pm Rehearse “America the Beautiful” on the field.
6:20pm Warm-Up
7:00pm Staging area
7:15pm PERFORM
7:30pm Watch Shows
8:15pm Mass Band Performance of “America the Beautiful”
8:30pm Load trailer, clean homeroom
8:45pm Dismissed!
