A few words from Miss Edie….

Hello Band Families –

We would like to let you know about a few upcoming events……

 

– Feb 18th – We will place a Scrip Order on Tuesday, Feb. 18th.  The list of participating retailers can be found at glscrip.com.  Please email your list to Edie at fitzveros@yahoo.com by Tuesday, Feb. 18th – 11:00 AM.  The orders will arrive on Feb. 20th.  This is an easy way to earn money for your student’s band account.  This money can go toward band camp, musical supplies, band trips, etc.  Contact Edie with any questions.

  

– Feb. 28 – March 1 – WLW is hosting Band and Orchestra Festival at our school.  The Band Boosters are handling concession sales and signage.  WE NEED YOUR HELP!   If you can sell concessions for a few hours on  Friday evening between 3:00 – 9:00 or Saturday between 7:30 – 3:00, please contact Linda Nielsen at lnielsen2010@comcast.net.  We also need someone to oversee sign placement on Friday afternoon (students will be helping with signs, also).  Please contact Linda (above) or Edie Fitzpatrick (fitzveros@yahoo.com) with questions.

 

 – March 29 – Casino Bus Trip – Please join us for a fun evening at the casino!  We will be taking a bus from WLW  – leaving at 4:30, returning at 11:30.  The cost is $40, which includes $20 in tokens.  Invite your family and friends to this band ‘fun’draiser!  Contact Roxanne Barry for sign up or questions – mrmbarry@sbcglobal.net.

  

– May 3 – Save the Date!  Please plan to join us for our 2nd Annual Euchre Party fundraiser!  We had a great time last year – hope you and your family/friends will join us!    If you have any connections for donations for our basket raffle, please let Roxanne Barry know (mrmbarry@sbcglobal.net).    More information to come…..

  

Are  you ‘a car guy?’  We need someone to look over our band trailer and let us know what maintenance is needed.  If this is something you could help with, please let Mr. Dudzinski know!

 

 Would you be interested in being a leader in the WLW Band Booster Organization?  Possibly serving on the WLW Band Booster Board?  Overseeing our Citrus Sale next year?  Managing the band Website and Facebook  page?   Spirit Wear Sales?   Fundraising committee member?  Concession sales committee member?   If any of these sound like something you’d be interested in, contact Edie Fitzpatrick (fitzveros@yahoo.com).  Please consider donating some of your time to keep this great program going for our kids!

A message about Scrip purchases from Miss Edie

Hello Band Families –

We will have 2 more opportunities for you to order Scrip gift cards before the holidays!  Assuming that we meet our minimum required order amount of $1000, I will submit orders on Monday, Dec. 9th and Dec. 16th.  Please email your lists to me at fitzveros@yahoo.com by 10:00 AM on those dates.  If we don’t reach the $1000 total on the first order date, I will carry those orders over to the next date.  We will definitely submit an order on Dec. 16th, regardless of our total.

 I will let you know when I receive your initial orders, and will contact you to arrange for delivery when they arrive.  Scrip must be paid for with cash or check (made out to WLWBB).  Payment is due when the gift cards are delivered to you.

Playtime at Paradise Park – September 15th

Come out and support the Band program with fun day out at Paradise Park.  Join us on Sunday, September 15th, from 4 pm to 7 pm and have some great family fun at Paradise Park.  Pre-purchase a wristband and enjoy the 5 park venues, Formula Style Go-Karts, Kiddie Go-Karts, Laser Tag, 18 Hole Miniature Golf, 26 ft Climbing Walls, Soccer Cages, and Olympic Style Trampoline Center. Come to the home football game on Thursday, August 29th in your best WLW Band T-Shirt, Fleece and Sweat Shirt and show your spirit and pride for the Marching Band. September 23 & October 14 (1:30 – 7:00pm) – Dining for Dollars at McDonald’s (Beck Road) with 15% of all dollars spent will return to WLW Bands.

Band Camp Eve

Twas the night before Band Camp and all through the house….. there was chaos. But, not to despair we have some words of encouragement and directions from Miss Edie –  Band Booster President:


 

Hello!

Edie Fitzpatrick wanted to send you the following message regarding the sign up: WLW Marching Band Camp Volunteers:

Hi Everyone –

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning at WLW at 10:00 to check-in. Remember….no drop-offs – please sign your child in!

Here are a few packing reminders / highlights from the parent meeting:

– See the Packing List and Parent Information Handout at WLWBANDS.COM

– Kids are welcome to pack snacks (and ziploc bags). No pop, energy drinks (Monster, Red Bull, etc.) are allowed. Gatorade, Powerade, etc. is fine.

– There will be a softball game this week. Bring a mitt so you can play!

– Pack any board games, decks of cards, etc. that you would like to play with friends in the evening.

– Bring your name tags from pre-camp week.

– Each section is assigned a specific snack to donate for the week, if possible. Please see the list below of instruments and the snack to bring.

– Returning Members – Try on your Dinkles before you come to camp! If they do not fit, and you would like to donate them to the ‘used shoe closet,’ please bring them to camp with you. Shoe fittings will take place this week at camp.

– There is NO TRANSPORTATION HOME PROVIDED at the end of the week. Please plan to come out to camp on Friday, 8/9 at 7:00 to see our show and take your child home. The directions to camp are found on the Parent Info Handout at wlwbands.com.

– Bring your checkbook on Friday! We will be selling Band Spirit Wear after the show. You can also pay for your Dinkles (marching shoes) at that time.

Please donate the following Snacks on Sunday when you check in:

Drum Line: 32 ct. case of water (16.9 oz bottles)

Drum Line – Pit: 24 ct. package of string cheese

Color Guard: 24 count Peanut Butter or Cheese Crackers

DrumMaj / Twirler: 12 pack of Diet Coke (Caffeine Free)

Flutes A – M: Large jug of orange juice (96+ ounces)

Flutes N – Z: 2 packages of cookies (not individually wrapped)

Piccolos: Large bag of baby carrots

Clarinets: Regular family size bag of potato chips

Trumpets: 18 count granola bars (chocolate chip are most popular)

Saxes: 5 lbs (15ish) washed apples

Trombones: Regular family size box of Cheez-Its

Mellophone: 1 bag of oranges (12ish)

Baritones: 3 regular size bags of long pretzel rods

Sousaphones: 1 Watermelon (uncut)
