Parents Needed at MSBOA Oct. 13th

Band Parents,

We are in need of a few additional parents to help move the pit equipment on and off the field at the MSBOA Marching Band Festival on Thursday Oct. 13.

If you can help, please arrive at the Royal Oak football field between 5:00 and 5:30 to move the equipment from the trailers to the warm-up area and then back to the field for the 6:15 performance. After the performance we’ll move he equipment back to the trailers.  I expect the trailers to be parked to the right (south) of the football field as you approach the gate.

Pink Out Performances for Soccer and Football

The marching band will be performing their entire halftime show at the Varsity Soccer Pink Out Game THIS TUESDAY, October 4 at Walled Lake Western.  This performance will be embedded within our scheduled rehearsal.  Students should wear jeans (or similar) and a pink out shirt (or pink of some kind).  We will rehearse at6:00pm, perform for the soccer game at approximately 7:40pm.  Following our performance, we will return to our rehearsal.
It will be helpful to have a few parents to help move equipment from the rehearsal field to the game field and back.  Please let me know if you are available to help.
I realize this is a last minute addition to our performance schedule.  Thankfully, it does not require an additional time commitment from the students, as we were already scheduled to rehearse that evening.

District Wide Adult Band Forming

WLCSD Adult Music Ensemble Forming- an informal and fun adult group being organized to practice (and maybe perform) music together.  The group is open to parents and graduates from all three high schools within our school district.  If you are/were a brass, woodwind, percussion, string player or vocalist, all you have to do is dust off your instrument and come join us! Calendar Updates

Marching Band Families,
Due to the recent passing of a close family friend, I will be attending a funeral in Kentucky this Friday and Saturday. As a result, the marching band will not be attending the Groves Invitational on Saturday evening.  Please accept my apologies for the last minute change of the schedule and the loss of a performance opportunity.    Thank you, Patrick Dudzinski

7:00 pm – Watch Groves High School
7:20 pm – Clean homeroom, Load Equipment, Board Bus
8:00 pm – Depart Groves

3:15 pm – Arrive at WLW to change and pack
3:45 pm – Load bus & Trailers
4:00 pm – Depart for Royal Oak High School via school bus
5:00 pm – Arrive and unload equipment
5:35 pm – Move to warm-up area
5:40 pm – Warm-Up in Area
6:10 pm – Report to staging area
6:15 pm – PERFORMANCE
6:30 pm – Pictures
7:00 pm – Report to grandstands to watch Waterford Kettering
All percussion and tubas take instruments to trailer.
7:20 pm – Report to coatroom to pack, gather belongings, clean room, etc.
7:40 pm – Load bus for departure
7:45 pm – Depart for WLW
8:30 pm – Approximate time of arrival at WLW
Unload trailer/buses; put equipment away

NOTICE:    In preparation for Festival, we have rehearsal Monday, October 10 AND Tuesday, October 11.
Due to the holiday, we DO NOT have rehearsal on Wed., October 12.
Rehearsal will end at 8:30pm both days.

Home Football Game Dinners for our Marching Band

Hello Band Parents,
I have helpers for Friday night home dinners, but anyone who said they would like to help is welcome to join us. The more, the merrier! Especially the Pink Out game on 10/7. During the Pink Out game we usually have around 300 kids (with 8th graders), and could use the extra hands.
Also I am looking for someone to take over dinners next year. Preferably someone with a freshman or sophomore that could do it for a few years. It’s a fun opportunity to get to know the kids. Please email me if you are interested and would like to shadow me this year. Spasquinzo@yahoo.com

1.) We need volunteers (parents, siblings, grads, friends) to assist with pit equipment and podiums for the first home game and band preview next weekend.

2.) We need a parent to drive one of the trailers to Walled Lake Central (and back) for Band Preview on September 10th.
